A Prayer For All Seasons

Sometimes we are at a loss as to what to pray. We may be too emotional, not emotional at all, tired, confused, rebellious, or many other things that bring us to a place where we just don’t have the words.

The Lord’s prayer is a prayer for all seasons. Since Christ gave it to us, it is always applicable and appropriate. We can pray it at any time, and it is particularly useful then, for those times when we just don’t know what to say to God.

Remember, in the same sermon (The Sermon on the Mount) Jesus told us we should not pray meaningless repetition. I encourage you that when you do pray the Lord’s Prayer, that you engage your heart and your mind.

Jesus said, “Pray, then, in this way:
Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen” (Matthew 6:9-13).

Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
• Address God as Father, and give Him praise.

Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
• Submit to His sovereign will in all things.

Give us this day our daily bread.
• Pray for daily provision.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
• Pray for daily forgiveness, and forgive others daily.

And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
• Pray for daily protection.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
• Pray for God’ glory in all things.

So, in those times when you just don’t know what to pray, pray the Lord’s Prayer. It’s a prayer for all seasons of life.

I started praying the Lord’s Prayer everyday starting May 31, 2019 in a 60 day challenge to say the Lord’s Prayer every day, read at least 3 bible verses everyday and list 3 things I am grateful for everyday.. I pray I will be so used to doing this every morning that it will then be a habit. It is a great challenge for the summer!

Thanks, Pastor Ben for all you wisdom and caring. Your sermons are always on spot!!!
