Good to Know: Fall Edition

Editor’s note: This quarterly "Good to Know" column is meant to provide timely and clear communication to the VBC church body. If you have a suggestion for items you would like to see in this column in the future, please email amanda@spokanevbc.org.

Caleb Klontz is back on staff!

Starting today, August 1, Caleb Klontz is back on the VBC staff as the Ministry Director of Life Groups. He will also help oversee Global Outreach, Hospitality, and Children’s Ministry. Welcome back, Caleb!

Prospective Elders

We are continuing to work with Ken Ainsworth, Toby Erickson, Kim Peasley, and Allan Snodgrass as part of our elder selection process. They attend all meetings with the current elders, including a bi-weekly study session. They contribute to discussions on church matters and are actively engaged in co-shepherding Valley Bible Church. We hope to complete the candidating process by the end of September.

The current elders ask the VBC congregation to be in prayer for the prospective elder candidates and for wisdom in the evaluation process. If you have any questions, concerns, or affirmations about one of the elder candidates, please email Pastor Ben at ben@spokanevbc.org or Doug Snook at doug@spokanevbc.org.

Auditorium Displacement Plan

This Sunday, August 3, is the last Sunday in our current auditorium!

Starting Sunday, August 10, we will continue to meet in the church building during our normal service times (8, 9:30, and 11) until the completion of the project around late November. Seating will be available in Room 130 and the portico/foyer. Room 150 will serve as overflow seating for the 9:30 and 11:00 services.

We will continue to offer nursery/VBC Kids’ Sunday School during this time. Parents should plan to keep children with them for the entire service or check them in to Sunday School at the beginning of the service (9:30 and 11 only).

Check out this overview video for more information about the temporary displacement period:

We appreciate your faithfulness in fulfilling your pledges to support this project. If you would like to make a financial pledge to contribute to the building project costs, please ask the VBC office for a packet. Pledges are invaluable in helping us plan responsibly as stewards of God’s resources.

Membership Process

For those who are interested in becoming members of Valley Bible Church, the next Membership Class is planned for January 2026. To start the membership process before that time, please email elders@spokanevbc.org for an individual interview.

Church in the Park and Baptisms

Save the date for our next Church in the Park on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 10 am! In lieu of our traditional Church Behind the Church, we will gather at Mirabeau Meadows (13500 E. Mirabeau Parkway, Spokane Valley, WA 99216) for an outdoor service and baptisms. Please consider limiting vehicles per family so everyone can find a parking space close to the venue. If you would like to speak to a pastor about being baptized on this day, please call the church office at (509) 928-5161 to set up an appointment.
