The Klontz Family
Caleb and Linda Klontz (and family) have returned to Spokane from Italy! In August, Caleb will resume overseeing VBC’s Life Group ministry, along with the Hospitality Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and the Global Outreach Team. He will also occasionally preach. Please pray for the Klontzes as they readjust to life in Spokane, recharge, and settle into a new house in September.
Prospective Elders
We are continuing to work with Ken Ainsworth, Toby Erickson, Kim Peasley, and Allan Snodgrass as part of our elder selection process. They attend all meetings with the current elders, including a bi-weekly study session. They contribute to discussions on church matters and are actively engaged in co-shepherding Valley Bible Church. The process began last fall with a one-year timeframe and is on track to be completed this fall.
The current elders ask the VBC congregation to be in prayer for the prospective elder candidates and for wisdom in the evaluation process. If you have any questions, concerns, or affirmations about one of the elder candidates, please email Pastor Ben at ben@spokanevbc.org or Doug Snook at doug@spokanevbc.org.
Building Project and Auditorium Displacement
We can finally see significant progress as the steel superstructure of our new auditorium has been erected, revealing the shape of things to come. While we don’t know the exact dates, we will be displaced from the auditorium by August. At that time, we will hold Sunday morning worship services in Room 130, the Portico/foyer area, and the Fellowship Hall (Room 150). We will announce new service times in the next couple of weeks.
We will continue to offer Children’s Sunday School for ages 3-5th grade in the Children’s Wing during both services, and they will be dismissed at the beginning of the service.
We appreciate your faithfulness in fulfilling your pledges to support this project. If you would like to make a financial pledge to contribute to the building project costs, please ask the VBC office for a packet. Pledges are invaluable in helping us plan responsibly as stewards of God’s resources.
Newcomer’s Luncheon and Membership Process
We held our latest Newcomer’s Luncheon on June 1 and enjoyed meeting 30 new people! For those who are interested in becoming members of Valley Bible Church, the next Membership Class is planned for January 2026. To start the membership process before that time, please email pastorselders@spokanevbc.org for an individual interview.
Church in the Park and Baptisms
We enjoyed our time as one united church body at Valley Mission Park last Sunday! Around 538 people attended to worship and fellowship. Thank you to the volunteers who helped make this annual event possible!
Ten people were baptized during this year’s Church in the Park: Joella Christensen, Ben Fischer, Matthew Fischer, Christopher Gay, Connor McMorris, Reagan McMorris, Chloe Nelson, Luke Roe, and Nick Weber. The next opportunity for baptism is Sunday, Aug. 24.
