Fall Flair is now Fall Fest: A Reformation Celebration! VBC's annual festival celebrates the Gospel championed by the Protestant Reformation with a variety of food, games, booths, music, and fellowship with each other and our community.  

A festival is, by definition, “a special day ... of social celebration, entertainment, or cultural and religious sharing, often featuring music, food, and traditional rituals.”  

Changing the name from “Fall Flair” to “Fall Fest” was meant to clarify what we are celebrating this time of year: the changing of the seasons (Pumpkin-flavored things! Changing colors! Cooler weather!), harvest time (God’s provision! Tasty treats! Abundance!), and the anniversary of Martin Luther nailing his 95 Theses to the door of the Catholic church on Oct. 31, 1517 (launching the Protestant Reformation). 

Fall Fest will have three major categories that need volunteers: 

1. Outdoor booths: This is a new addition to our festival lineup and is intended for our church family to get creative! We plan to have rows of booths in the church parking lot with a variety of offerings for all ages. These booths could be food-themed (ex. various flavors of popcorn, street corn, smoked meats, pastries/cookies, old-fashioned candy shoppe, pumpkin doughnuts, caramel apples, festive drinks), activities (ex. photo booth, leather-working station, bracelet making, face painting, pumpkin painting, paper crafts, caricature drawing, pull-up challenge station, cake walk), or brain challenges (ex.Reformation trivia, memory games). Volunteers would come up with an idea for a booth, prepare/bring the items needed, and staff the booth during the festival. 
2. Indoor games/activities: Our traditional Fall Flair games will still be available inside in the north and east hallways. Candy and small toys will be available as prizes. We need volunteers to run these games, but everything will already be set up to run the station. 
3. Food: Hot dogs and chili will be available in the church kitchen and snacks/drinks will be available in the Portico kitchen. Seating for eating will be available in the foyer. We need volunteers to prepare and serve the food items provided, as well as keep the eating areas tidy and stocked. 

Concerning costumes/dressing up: Modest festive attire celebrating the fall season, the Reformation Celebration, Bible characters, etc., is welcome (but not required!). Have fun and be creative! We would ask that those who call VBC their church home refrain from wearing costumes that are grotesque, macabre, or dark.   

This festival is brought to life by volunteers, and our desire is for Life Groups to serve together! We encourage each Life Group to discuss which volunteer category they would enjoy and plan to sign up on Sunday, Oct. 13, in the foyer between services. Individuals, Fire Teams, families, and other ministries are also welcome to serve together – there is a place for everyone!
