Building Project Update 11/29/24

Dear Valley Bible Church Family,

We are pleased to provide a very positive update about our building project. Phase 1 is the expansion of the auditorium, additional foyer, restrooms, and storage. Phase 2 is a shell for new classrooms and nursery spaces.

Phase 1: 

Since announcing the project early this year, months have been spent with architects, contractors, engineers, and many other subspecialties in preparing the final drawings and costs. The work has often been slow and tedious but has paid off.

The final pricing has come in, and the news is excellent. In February, we started with a projected Phase 1 cost of $3.5 million, which grew to an estimated $3,617,495 in September. Now, the final pricing is $3,047,826. Although this is the final pricing from the contractor, it will go even lower, perhaps under the three million dollar mark.

We will sign a contract with TW Clark next week as we firm up the final numbers and await the construction permit.

Site preparation and excavation have begun, receiving the Grading Permit on October 31. We want to thank Dan Woodward for his work in site preparation. Dan is donating his labor, providing significant savings reflected in the lower costs we are reporting. Thanks, Dan!

In addition, because of your generosity and faithfulness, we are in a financial position to put down a significant down payment and thus reduce the amount we have to borrow to complete the project.

Phase 2: 

In February, the estimated cost of Phase 2 was $1,950,00, which grew to $2,174,400 in September. The final pricing stands today at $1,423,240. The higher number in September inadvertently included around $800,000 to finish the shell, which should have been included in Phase 3. We are still $500,000 lower than the estimate in February.

There will be additional savings if we can do Phase 1 and Phase 2 concurrently. We are within striking distance of including Phase 2 in the upcoming construction, but it depends on how much we can raise from among our church family.

Please pray as we are about to begin a new year, which will bring significant changes to the ministry of Valley Bible Church. Buildings will come and go, but it is not a cliche to say that people are our priority in ministry.
