Christ and Cancel Culture

What is the difference between Christ and “Cancel Culture?” Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the truth.” Jesus is the embodiment of the truth, the source of all truth, and the standard by which all truth is measured. However, we live in a cancel culture that has determined its own truth. And if you do not adhere to or offend that truth, the consequences can be brutal.

Many people have found themselves canceled because they said something foolish as a teenager, or simply made a mistake and posted something on social media, or said something in public that did not meet the current dogma.

What happens if it is discovered that you said something that offends that dogma when you were 17 years old? You were young and foolish. You get canceled.

But what if you apologize and ask for forgiveness? Surely there is redemption. Sorry, no. Forgiveness? There is none.

In this world of cancel culture:
There is no love.
There is no grace.
There is no mercy.
There is no kindness.
There is no forgiveness.

There is only anger, revenge, retribution, and eradication. If you have offended the dogma, you are done, you are canceled, there is no coming back.

How does that compare with Christ? The differences are night and day. Through Jesus, who is “the way, and the truth, and the life,” there is forgiveness. There is love.

Through Christ:
There is love.
There is grace.
There is mercy.
There is kindness.
There is forgiveness.

Whatever you have done, whatever you have thought, whatever you have become, He gives grace, mercy, love, forgiveness, and redemption.

The only thing canceled through Christ is the debt of your sin.
